This is why Christian homeschooling hurts children

  1. You can’t teach a child what you don’t know yourself and if you are deficit in certain areas you never will be able to impart what you don’t know. Kids tend to learn their family biases, or to even recognize them as such. The isolation is dangerous. When do they learn to interact with other kids?

    1. Hi Judy I agree. As that one kid said his mother got it in her head he had to crawl to learn and at 12 years old made him crawl everywhere in the house. It is rife for abuse.

What the right has done is muddy the waters about teachers and schools. Teachers need specialized education skills and they train for them. Yes some are not as good as others but that is in every skilled job. They have years of education learning their craft only to work for the lowest wages. We need to elevate teachers, fund schools and pay teachers properly. Students need socialization especially now as you say. Hugs

  2. Based on my few exchanges with the adults of this ilk I have a feeling this will end up as indoctrination, and one based on a crippling ignorance of the true contexts of both Testaments of the Bible.

Example: On one FaceBook LGBT site celebrating an event, there was a comment by a woman “Jesus taught man shall not lie with man”. I asked her would she please quote the exact chapter and verse in the Gospels where this is said………..
    Silence…….
    Why was I not surprised?

    Take care.
Wish you Scottie and Ron a safe new year with causes to make you feel happy and at ease.

    1. Hi Roger. I agree. I remember a few years ago there was an interview with a woman who homeschooled her kids in the faith. No one of the kids could do math, or any school subject and could hardly read. She said there was no reason to teach them because god was coming back any time now to take them to heaven anyway.

In the state of New York they have a problem with Islamic schools that do not teach any skills other than the Quran. These kids graduate and can’t get work because they have no math skills or any skills. But they know the Quran backwards and forwards. So they fall on the state assistance. This was former Governor Cuomo’s fault as he needed their votes as a block so he pushed a law blocking any inspection or minium skill level like in public schools. Hugs

      1. Israel is facing the problem at another level with the Haredi an ultra orthodox group whose men claim an exemption as they assert they must study the Torah. This has been a bone contention in Israeli society for some time. It is now growing as the government is trying to force through a bill removing the exemption.

If Israel does fall, it will fall from within

        1. Hi Roger. Yes that is also happening in NY City with the orthodox Jewish populations. I find it weird that so many fundamentalist groups want special carve outs and rights for their own faith but fight with all they have against any other group / people to have the same rights or equality. 1. It’s a case of an old narrow view approach Scottie

            “I have strong views
            You have been misled
            They are dangerous”
Look at any narrow based outlook and you will find Arrogance, Ignorance and Intolerance.
The tragedy of the Human Race.

            Take care you guys.
