Anti Pride/LGTBQ+ Passive Aggressive Nonsense

Happy (And Safe) Pride Month!

By my dogs that love gravy I love Barry’s post. I can not think of a better way to present the facts. The most needed facts about trans people, facts about pride parades, and about young people knowing who they are. Please read the post. Also please subscribe to Barry’s blog, he present things with a view point that is often refreshing compared to what we normally hear about things. In honor of Barry, Best wishes. Scottie

Florida Cities Raise Pride Flags Over City Halls After Failed GOP Attempt To Ban Them From Govt Buildings

The good people are fighting back now. DeathSantis and his fundamentalist minority have pushed decent people too far. But look for a response from the right wing shock troops, the Proud Boys, the militias, the other right wing gang thugs. Hugs. Scottie

Tampa’s WMNF reports:

Several Tampa Bay area cities have raised the LGBTQ Pride flags over city buildings this weekend. But that would have been illegal if a bill that died in this year’s Florida Legislature had instead become law.

On Saturday morning the city of Gulfport in south Pinellas County raised the Pride flag over its public library. It came after a short ceremony of speeches honoring the city’s commitment to equality and before a day-long block party celebration of Pride.

The nearby City of St. Petersburg raised its LGBTQ Pride flag over City Hall on Friday. Meanwhile, the City of Clearwater will host Pride events but will not fly the Pride flag at a city building.

Also raising the Pride flag over their city halls this weekend were Tampa, Wilton Manors, Miami, and Orlando. If you know of any others, let us know in the comments.

The Republican bill to ban Pride flags at government buildings passed earlier this year in the Florida House, but died when the state Senate ran out of time to vote on the issue before the session ended for the year.

Of note, an amendment to the Senate version of the bill would have allowed the Confederate flag, something its sponsor later claimed was as “error.”

Funny how the party that’s always going on about the First Amendment and free speech is always trying to ban speech they don’t like, in this case flying a flag.

“Freedom” to the fascists means “You are FREE to do what WE tell you to do.”

This is vivid example of what I said yesterday about opposing a gay tourism boycott of Florida. Aside from the fact that countless of our people make their money that way, the major cities in Florida, most of which are run by Democrats, are overwhelmingly on our side.

While boycotts hurt the wrong people many of us trans folk do not feel safe traveling to any state that has bathroom ban legislation on the books.

Very understandable. And as I also said yesterday, I completely understand why gay families with children would choose to leave the state.

AND you (and all of us) can be refused medical care. What if I get food poisoning, have car accident? And gay-bashed. I won’t want someone’s ‘sincere’ religious beliefs to interfere with my ‘sincere’ desire to stay alive and healthy.

I was just in a Tires Plus shop to replace a tire. I had to use the bathroom, so I asked where it was. The guy at the desk pointed to it, and said it was the door to the left. It was marked Ladies!!! The men’s bathroom was out of order, and the guy told me that it was “Uni-sex”!!!

I replied, that I am glad for the Democracy and Equaiity!!!

I was in the Eureka/Arcata/McKinleyvillle area of northern California last weekend and every restaurant bathroom I went into was M/F/Who Cares? As they should be.

Bootsy is stamping his little high heeled lifts like a toddler having a tantrum….

Analysis Finds Finds No Negative Effects On Straight Marriages Since Courts Legalized Same-Sex Marriage

RainbowFlag-1-2

Axios reports:

The U.S. has not seen any negative effects on marriage, divorce or living arrangements among all couples since Massachusetts issued the first state-sanctioned, same-sex marriage licenses 20 years ago, a new analysis says.

A review of nearly 100 studies examining the consequences of same-sex marriage on multiple measures of family formation and well-being found no harm to different-sex unions, a report from RAND and UCLA found.

The analysis found that after states legalized marriage for same-sex couples, marriage numbers jumped in those states at rates greater than what could be accounted for by the new marriages of same-sex couples alone. Researchers found no consistent evidence of an increase in divorce as a consequence of legalizing marriage for same-sex couples.

Read the full article. Hate groups warned back then and continue to claim today that same-sex marriage would result in the destruction of the “natural family.” Some, such as the Liberty Counsel, have claimed that same-sex marriage laws legalized pedophilia, bestiality, and incest marriages. Last month the Liberty Counsel declared that the still unfolding 2015 Kim Davis case will soon be before the Supreme Court.

Fundamentalists prophesy doom to scam money out of the unwitting?

I’m shocked!

Hate is quite profitable: Valentina Gomez, Chaya Raichik, Tony Perkins, Maggie Gallagher, Anita Bryant, Candace Owens, Michelle Malkin, Rupert Murdoch, the list is endless.

If anyone’s straight cishet marriage is threatened by anyone else marrying, something is wrong with that relationship!

I’d like to see a comparison of divorce rates over the last 20 years, same sex couples vs opposite sex couples.

The Evangelicals and the hardcore Right Wing crazies are so obsessed with the sex life of LGBT people that they usually FAIL to take care of their own lives, how many of the more outspoken Anti Gay activists have been divorced, cheated on their spouse with someone else, have been caught soliciting sex from both men and women? They have nothing better to do with their sad pathetic lives than to focus on someone else’s.

I’ll never forget former Congressman Barney Frank asking one of his homophobic colleagues in the House how Frank’s gay marriage adversely affected his colleague’s marriage. The answer, of course, was silence.

He also had a grand ol’ reaction when someone asked him about non-heteros showering or taking a piss next to the straights: “What do you think has been happening for years?”

I always got a kick out of Barney Frank.

Remember whenDick Armey called him ‘Barney Fag’ and then tried to excuse it away by saying it was a ‘mispronunciation’? Barney’s reply was the best:
“I rule out that it was an innocent mispronunciation,” said Barney Frank from his office this week, reflecting on the slur that shook the 104th Congress. “I turned to my own expert, my mother, who reports that in 59 years of marriage, no one ever introduced her as Elsie Fag.”
https://www.nytimes.com/199…

As if that’s going to stop them from still trying to overturn Obergefell.

The GQP also said it would lead to child marriage, knowing that it was already legal in a number of states AND that the GQP is still trying to stop proposed bans on the practice.

But of course this evidence is completely meaningless because it doesnt fit the evangelical victim mindset.

Drag queen story time reading in Philadelphia sets Guinness World Record for attendance
The event, hosted by the Philadelphia Gay News and sponsored by Visit Philadelphia, saw Philadelphia drag performers reading children’s stories to 263 people, which organizers said was a first-ever Guinness World Record for such an event.

Letting Go Of Control And Hatred; Persevering With Love

I love when he is talking about just loving others as I loved you, he then adds some example. One was don’t try to force your morality on others, just love them like I love you. He adds quite a few examples of the don’t just love as I love you. I think it is worth listening to even if you are not religious or not Christian. Hugs. Scottie

The Big Idea: Rob Costello

I want to thank Ali for the link. Below is what she wrote about the site. For those wondering what the 2S in the LGBTQIA2S is two spirit people, which is how the first people called same sex attracted people which I think is grand. Hugs Scottie

Meanwhile, take a look at this. It’s short, but you’ll appreciate it; representation is important. https://whatever.scalzi.com/2024/05/21/the-big-idea-rob-costello/ . (Not that Rob Costello.)

Some clips from Rev. Ed Trevors

I was going to put this one lower in the list until I listened closely to the end. In fact I repeated the last half twice to make sure I understood what he was saying. He is the first, maybe only Christ bible pusher who has said openly and publically that conversion to Christianity, that believing in being a good person and treating others the way Jesus talked about lets you have a spot in his fold, his heaven. He specifically doesn’t mention atheists, but he has before. Hugs. Scottie

In the following video Rev Trevors makes clear he not only dislikes the prosperity gospel preachers, he dislikes the message they send for not being biblical. He totally shoots down the new push all these getting rich by preaching people are touting, Christian Nationalism and the idea that the US was founded as a Christian nation. He also at the end says something many not watch long enough to hear. He says that not only do these preacher claim things they can’t prove he also can’t prove his god exists. He says he teachers about faith, not proof. He says when someone claims that he worships an invisible daddy in the sky, he can’t prove god exists. He is OK with that. I really respect this man. Hugs. Scottie

In the one below this time he explains something very important a lot of people miss. Things that when the writers of the bible wrote about giants or Nephilim they meant fierce hard to beat warriors, not real bigger than humans giants. He explains that the writers used phrases and ideas from their own time. He is sort of admitting that the bible not to be taken literally and was written by humans for the people of that time. Hugs. Scottie

I did not think to write a blurb about the rest of the videos, I posted these before it dawned on me people might not watch them without understanding what they might be about. If you are wondering, fast-forward towards the end of each video to see if the video strikes a nerve and I would post it. Just remember I am an atheist and I enjoy listening to this guy. Hugs. Scottie

Midday Palate Cleanser … Elephants are better people

Hi. Grand post, great videos, I love them. Ten Bears and I have already talked about this here. But MPS posted far more than I did on it. How anyone can watch the elephants and not see thinking, loving, communicating, caring, grand beings in what we humans call a herd. Oh how I wonder how they refer to most of us. On one side note. When I posted this, I referred to the man who moved under one of the larger elephants. This is why it is important to read comments on sites, this person seen something I missed. I marveled that the man who is a fragile creature was so comfortable being that surrounded by these huge beings. The comment put a new view of what was happening. Again it is so loving. Hugs. Scottie

They’ve done this before. Pretty cool.

It’s Time for More Human/Animal Bonding

Thank you, Annie, for posting this. Anyone who think other animals don’t have feelings, needs, and intelligence have never watched or been with animals. Each to their species and their way, but I watched a video recently where they showed bees can count and recognize shapes including solving complex tasks required to get the food. Hugs. Scottie
