UPDATED: Michigan Legislators Propose Online Porn Ban

I know that the Christian religion has been on a push for forcing the US to be a theocracy run by their personal church doctrines.   Why I don’t understand?  Do they think that will earn them favor with their god?  Is it simply a way for the leaders of the movement to gain more power  / wealth?  Is it simply they are terrified of after they die and are convinced that their forcing others to follow their church doctrines will get their god to give them more benefits in heaven.  The religious strictures on sex and sexual stuff is rooted in an ancient not correct misunderstand of life and sexuality.  I still do not understand why others watching porn upsets Christian republicans.   I really don’t get it.  Is it because they are afraid the people watching will masturbate?  Is it because sexual arousal is fearful to them?    I really wish someone could explain it to me.  Even in the church boarding school I went to my senior year of high school they did not push that no sex stuff very hard, instead they occasionally reminded us not to touch ourselves.   They need not have worried, in the boy’s dorm we were touching each other which in our kid brains got around the entire sin of jerking off thing.  Hugs.

Michigan lawmakers have introduced a bill that would make it illegal to distribute pornography via the internet in the state.

HB 4938, introduced last week by six Republican members of the state House of Representatives, would “prohibit the distribution of certain material on the internet that corrupts the public morals.”

Pornography is the principal target, though the bill also seeks to criminalize depictions of transgender people.

The bill defines “pornographic material” broadly, to include “any content, digital, streamed, or otherwise distributed on the internet, the primary purpose of which is to sexually arouse or gratify, including videos, erotica, magazines, stories, manga, material generated by artificial intelligence, live feeds, or sound clips.”

The bill appears to exempt from the ban material protected by the First Amendment. Since pornography is constitutionally protected speech, this makes it unclear how the legislation could actually work.

According to the law, “prohibited material” means “material that at common law was not protected by adoption of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States respecting laws abridging freedom of speech or of the press.”

XBIZ spoke with adult industry attorney and First Amendment expert Corey D. Silverstein to attempt to explain what this meant.

“I think they are trying to say that it would not be applicable to content not deemed as obscene under the Miller test,” he said. “But it is written so poorly that there is some uncertainty as to their angle, which also makes the proposal both vague and ambiguous.

“At the same time, it could be another attempt to undercut and soften the Miller test, which we have been seeing in various other states throughout the country,” he added.

The proposed penalties in the bill are severe, including up to 20 years in prison or a fine of up to $100,000, or both. It also allows for civil fines of up to $500,000 per violation.

The bill would require internet service providers to implement “mandatory filtering technology” to prevent Michigan residents from accessing “prohibited material” as defined in the bill, to “actively monitor and block known circumvention tools,” and to block access to specific websites on receipt of a court order.

The bill calls for the state attorney general to establish “a special internet content enforcement division” staffed with “digital forensics analysts, legal experts, cybersecurity specialists, and investigators” to enforce the proposed law.

Silverstein added that he doesn’t believe the bill has much of a chance at being adopted.

“This bill has virtually no chance of going anywhere, given the current makeup of the Michigan legislature and its far-left Democrat governor,” he said. “The bill is unconstitutional at every turn. Regardless, it is alarming that this type of thinking and government waste continues to occur.”

The bill was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Talk of porn bans has increased in recent months. Earlier this year, Republican Senator Mike Lee of Utah introduced federal legislation that would redefine almost all visual depictions of sex as obscene and therefore illegal, a goal that was also laid out in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 policy blueprint, which has heavily guided the Trump administration’s agenda.

Update, Sept. 19: The bill’s reference to “known circumvention tools” includes VPNs, proxy servers and encrypted tunneling methods, which would make it nearly impossible to access adult content online within the state.

RTÜK fines streaming platforms, orders removal of films over ‘anti-family’ content

This is what the culture hate warriors want here in the US.  They saw what Putin did in Russia and what Victor Orbán did in Hungary.  They used the idea of protecting children to limit representation of LGBTQ+ people in society, then they moved it up the war against that community to erase it based on it was an attack on families.  The question you need to ask why is family threatened by including same-sex couples as a family?  What makes that family unit an attack on families?   In their mind it is twofold, one in their mind it doesn’t produce its own offspring and also it offends tradition / religious tradition.  We must never change what was done in the past forever in the minds of those who preach the way to live from a book written centuries ago as they read it on their new smartphone.  We must find a way to stop this big money steam rolling over personal civil rights to install fundamental religious dictates on how everyone lives in the US.  There are those who believe just admitting and allowing LGBTQ+ people to exist is promoting it.  Is admitting and showing red hair people exist promoting red hair?  Hugs

The council claimed the content “promotes homosexuality,” “disregards family values,” and “conflicts with the shared values of society.”

ICE Violence Is OUT OF CONTROL

As the guest host says, running into an ICE group is terrifying.  They are untrained and are extremely abusive to people.  The video show how the ICE guy drew his gun while laying on top of the person then put it into his belt.  Later he lost both his gun and his ammo clip.  Yet there are no controls on these masked people.  So many kidnappings are going to happen by every group of sexual traffickers, and how is the public to know who is real official or not.  This is pure Stephen Miller.  I was a trained auxiliary deputy sheriff.  Had I done anything like this I would have been in court and regardless I would have been fired.   Hugs

Sinclair Backs Down, Will Resume Airing ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ on Local Stations

The outrage machine has moved on.

By AJ Dellinger Published September 26, 2025

In a classic Friday news dump move, Sinclair announced that it will end its unofficial boycott of Jimmy Kimmel and will once again broadcast the comedian’s late-night show, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ to its ABC affiliate broadcast stations, ending its completely principled and not at all politically motivated stance to pre-empt the show after all of two days.

“Our objective throughout this process has been to ensure that programming remains accurate and engaging for the widest possible audience,” the company said in a statement. “We take seriously our responsibility as local broadcasters to provide programming that serves the interests of our communities, while also honoring our obligations to air national network programming.”

Sinclair—which operates 30 ABC affiliate stations in 27 markets, including cities like Portland, Baltimore, and Minneapolis—announced last week that it would choose to air “news programming” in place of Kimmel’s show, which returned to the air Tuesday after a brief hiatus. The program, which was briefly suspended by ABC after Kimmel made a frankly pretty innocuous comment about the political ideology of the person who allegedly shot and killed conservative influencer Charlie Kirk in Utah earlier this month.

Sinclair, along with fellow media conglomerate Nexstar, announced they would pull Kimmel’s show from the air following a statement from Federal Communications Commission head Brendan Carr, who warned broadcasters, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” and said, “These companies can find ways to change conduct to take action on Kimmel or, you know, there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

Both companies currently have business in front of the FCC and are pretty motivated to show fealty to the Trump administration to ensure their deals get pushed through—not that they need that much motivation, considering both companies are owned by conservative-aligned media magnates. Sinclair CEO David Smith has been shifting its editorial coverage to the right for years, and Smith reportedly told Trump in 2016, “We are here to deliver your message.” Likewise, Nexstar chairman Perry Sook has repeatedly praised Trump and poured money into the coffers of GOP groups.

Sinclair attempted to get in front of the obvious criticisms that it would face as a result of both its initial decision not to broadcast ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and its latest call to bring him back to the airwaves in Sinclair markets.

“Our decision to preempt this program was independent of any government interaction or influence,” the company said. “Free speech provides broadcasters with the right to exercise judgment as to the content on their local stations. While we understand that not everyone will agree with our decisions about programming, it is simply inconsistent to champion free speech while demanding that broadcasters air specific content.” It apparently took the company a solid week to remember that commitment to free speech, but it got there.

The reality is that Sinclair was going to back down eventually, if only for legal reasons. As a broadcast executive explained to Deadline, local affiliates contractually can only preempt a program so many times before it breaks the contract and loses the ability to broadcast the show entirely. Sinclair’s “principled stance” was destined to last for exactly as long as it didn’t actually cost them anything and likely not a second longer.

Once word started spreading that Disney might threaten to withhold live sports broadcasts from affiliates who pulled Kimmel, it was only a matter of time before Sinclair suddenly found its unwavering belief in “free speech” again. There may be a subset of people pissed off that Kimmel is back on Sinclair’s airwaves, but you can bet even more would be pissed if they couldn’t watch LSU play Ole Miss on Saturday. That would hurt Sinclair’s real primary principle: always maximize profits.

Trump ICE Czar’s Bribe Bag Scandal

Israel: A Society In Denial

This is incredibly disgusting and horrific.  The Israeli media is pushing garbage, lies, and misinformation on the Israeli public.  They don’t believe what other news sources say about starving children or women.   One Israeli man said he was going into the military in two months and hoped to be sent to Gaza to kill the Palestinians.  When asked about the women and children he claimed there were no innocents, that they were all Hamas.  He was asked about kids, little kids and babies his answer were they were either Hamas or terrorists or future terrorists.  Better to kill the babies now rather than them growing up to hurt an Israeli.    Only one couple called for an end to the war.   The others demand Hamas release the hostages.  The surrounding crowd did not believe them when they said that Hamas was willing to return the hostages in exchange for stopping the war but Netanyahu killed the negotiations.  They are as brained washed as Fox viewers and when the truth comes out they will be living in Palestinian land claiming innocence because they willfully did not know of what the military was doing.  Oh well water under the bridge they will claim.   I am seriously anti-Israel’s government and military.  I think they are equal to Hitlers government and supporters.  They need to suffer the same fate.  Following orders doesn’t cut it.  Being Jewish is not a pass for committing genocide.  Never again is for all people or it is not for any people.   Best wishes for all and hugs for those that want them.
