“They have sued organizations into the ground.”

Today and the plans and what will be.

Hello everyone.  What a morning.   I got up at 4 am and the plan was to power through the cartoons / memes / news post for tomorrow and then dive into the comments.   I understand from what I have been told some are pretty contentious.   However … the best laid plans of mice and men I think is the phrase.   It is now 1:14 pm and I am just getting back to my computers since 8:30 am.

Ron got up late around 8:20 am and he was struggling.   I offered to make breakfast which he really wanted me to do.   But at 9 am my news programs via over the air waves broadcasts of Sunday news programs came on.  But the TV in the kitchen is a very simple plain TV with no features.  The apple box attached to that TV has bluetooth so I can use earbuds.  However again I can’t for broadcast stuff so if Ron doesn’t want to hear it I can’t use the TV.

Nevertheless Ron said go ahead and watch the news and while I cooked a breakfast of thick sliced bacon, sausage links, and a large bratwurst sausage Ron wanted.  Normally I would do potatoes, but I was not up for that today.  Along with the meat I made 8 hard boiled eggs.  And toast.

While I was doing this Ron tore apart the bedroom window A/C unit.   It was a dirty mess even though he cleaned the filters regularly.  But as he took it apart it was good he had asked me to order a special A/C cleaning liquid.   Decon 30 I got from Amazon and what a mess he got into as he deep cleaned the unit and then cleaned everything up.

After I made breakfast and we ate he went back to working on the A/C.   I started cleaning up and doing dishes along with setting up the coffee stuff for tomorrow.   We finished at the same time.  1:20 pm about.   Ron and I then discussed what to do for supper.  It was decided I would make tacos with extra beans and other seasonings while Ron started doing the laundry, both to finish the stuff we had not gotten to and to clean the towels / wash clothes he used to clean the unit.  Ron wanted me to get time to finish the post for tomorrow and I will.   However the comments are a wait and see.   However I pushed sharpening the knives until tomorrow but other than that I have no appointments so should be able to get to comments if I don’t today.

Last thing I want to mention.  The week after the 4th I had many doctors visits.  As I am a person who engages with the people behind the counters the question kept coming up “What did you do for the 4th”.  Many people complained about the heat and how they tried to either go out or find other activities.  However when they asked me what we did they were surprisingly supportive of what Ron and I did to celebrate the holiday with many saying they wished they had done so as well.

Ron and I stayed home and we did one of the things we enjoy.  Something we have enjoyed all our time together but much more as we aged.   Cooking and making things in the kitchen together.   When we knocked the walls out and made the extra large kitchen, we did it with just this in mind. We used to make christmas gifts of baked goods we would work together on for days.

We made a meatloaf.   I have never liked meat loaf before but Ron and James loved it.   They would have it and I would have something else.   But as I have aged my tastes have changed and in truth so has the way we make the meatloaf.   So we made a meatloaf together with Ron doing the making work and me doing the seasoning work.  I then made the potatoes and side dishes.   I will admit at 63 years old it is one of the best 4th of July’s I have ever had.    Hugs

A comment about MAGA’s fear of Trans folks…

I love how the Rev. talks about the remarkable strength of trans people for just trying to live as who they really are, not as who some on the right want them to be.  He sees trans people for the people they are.  He is realistic about the circumstances for them and others in their lives.  Hugs

Conversation Starter: The Tragedy of Faith over Hope.

I have sorrowed in confusion and anger watching those who profess themselves to be Christian and speaking with those who say that they love God confidently support the very worst in humanity. I have impotently stood by as those who say they are Saved celebrated the wonton destruction of life, of home, of health, of community and future suffered by those whom the ravagers declare lacking. It has been a shattering of my Faith to see those tragedies encouraged, applauded and justified by the very same who share a pew and who stand behind a pulpit.

In the last decade and more, we have all found ourselves faced with the loud declarations of pastors and congregants who believe themselves wise attacking the struggling, the different, the ‘stranger’ and believing themselves righteous in their condemnation. It has been difficult for me to hold to love for those being so inhumane, especially for family and friends of whom we thought better.

I was taught better than to do that in my Church, in my Sunday School and in my Confirmation Classes. I was told that was just who were meant to be. I wanted to believe it. The Reality of my life hurt and I needed to believe that there was some-thing, some-where better. I needed to know that the failures in my life, the struggles in my heart and in my mind, were not my definition, my destruction. I was failing in Faith because of my own limitations and realities, but I held onto Hope. I held onto that Hope that Something Better would come.

Hope is a difficult word. Prisoners hold onto hope that Freedom will come. The Sick hold onto hope that a cure will be discovered. The Hungry hope in Finding their needs met. The Hurt and Abused hold onto hope that someone will come to save them. Hope holds out a hand, praying that someone will come to be with them and believe they are worthy of life, of love. Hope looks into the mirror and begs for a better existence, strives for a better life, makes better choices and dreams of better days.

In my adult years, I’ve heard the church talk not about Hope but about Faith. Faith is described as the assurance that all has been done, the Price has been paid, the Contract is signed and no more needs to be done. I’ve heard the church talk about being justified by Christ, that sins are washed clean, and yet at the same time I hear that same church talk about the filthy, the sinful, the unworthy. In short, they claim forgiveness due to their faith and judge others for their sin. Such “faith” has brought them arrogance, impudence and presumption that calling themselves “christian” and sitting in a pew on Sunday justifies ugliness and hate.

I believe. I want to believe. I want that “unbudging” Faith that allows me to stand before the mirror, maybe one day before God. But, part of that faith was imparted to me by the church, one that willingly stands in judgement for the destruction of those who don’t love the same, live the same, believe the same. It holds a congregation of those who would condemn, deny, celebrate the pain their greed engenders. And so, my Faith is broken. I hold onto Hope.

The Real History Behind Anti-Trans Laws

Wow.  There is a lot of historic information in this video.  The author / presenter has quick cuts to other personality characters she plays to highlight the absurdity of some positions held by the hierarchy.  She delvesdeeply into the idea of what is proper femininity, who steps outside it, and who thinks they are responsible for judging or enforcing it.  She delves into how many fights against change and equality are about fears by men of emasculation.  The lowering of men’s status.  When she elaborates on suffrage, all the fears seem to be that allowing women to vote would give women the right to be men and force men to be women.   Seem familure?   She goes into detail on how each repressive opressive responce to equal rights comes down to the same phrases such as save the children, save the family,  or the claims that society it self will end.   The clips she intersperses go by far too quickly so I had to stop the video to read them but she does describe what is on them.   The begining was choppy and it took me a bit to get  her style of presentation but once I did I found it very informative fillwed with facts, history, and fun to watch.  Hugs

The transgender bathroom ‘debate’ isn’t new (but it is stupid). I’m looking at you TERF’s…

Looking back through history, gender politics is consistently entangled with race, class, misogyny, and disability. Minority groups existing outside the ‘norm’ are attacked as ‘radicals’ or menaces to society…

But what prevails each time we face oppression AND causes real change in our society?

Is this why self pleasure is a sin?

In this video Dan hits back on the myth that in the bible / god will any sex outside of marriage is a sin.   He shows how many different sexual acts and groupings were included as Ok for the morality of the time.  I am listening to Separation of church and hate by John Fugelsang.  In the book he explains that the bible is a collection of writings written for the people of that time, the culture of that time, and about the morality accepted at that time.  He shares examples where different authors flat out disagree with each other, but they were separated by ceneriesin time.  Dan mentions something like that here and how each author had their own view of sex and what was moral.  He explains sexual agency and how in the bible for it to be considered sex a penis needed to be involved going into an orifice of some person with lesser status than the man with the active penis.   I like at the end where he talks of the dangers and torments of telling  developing children going through puberty that simply touching themselves is a sin, makes them an abomination to god, and will condemn them to hell.  Hugs

Buttigieg says his family was target of ‘politically motivated hoax’

This is horrific and I believe I already posted on it once.   Ron and I talked about it at length.  Hug         ————————————————————————————————————————————

Buttigieg says his family was target of ‘politically motivated hoax’

The former transportation secretary described it as “the ugliest thing that has happened to me since my career in service began.”

$360,000 and Counting: School Districts Are Spending Big Bucks to Fight Anti-Trans Lawsuits

This is a very important news article.  I hope everyone will read it.  This is scary how a small mostly religious minority wants to erase an entire group of people from existence just for a made up moral certainty that they can’t accept that people different from them exist.   They simply won’t accept that other people can feel differently than they do and they insist that they have the right to deny all rights to LGBTQ+ kids / people.   I remember being a gay teenager hearing these same arguments about people like me in J high school.  How gay kids shouldn’t be allowed in locker rooms as we may get excited by the other kids bodies and lose control and have sex with them right there in the locker room.  It was a huge fight back then about gay teachers as the moral right felt they shouldn’t be teaching kids who might see being gay as normal.  I remember the silly stupid republicans like Sam Nunn claiming no military person wanted to serve with or god forbid shower in the same room as a gay man.  At the time I was gay and in the military and having more sex and great times even with straight guys.  But the parent pushing the claim that their daughter had to change clothes in front of a trans kid went on right wing TV programs to promote the hate.  The school denies that setup existed.  Plus a lot of this is funded and pushed by religious hate groups with a lot of donated money behind them in an attempt to keep the country from progressing as their god is stuck with writings from 2,500 years ago and the majority of hate preachers seem to idolize the 1950s.  I feel so sorry for the trans kids today.  I remember what it was like for me as a gay kid in the public school system.  I was not even out, just different but still I was attacked as a queer faggot.  Why some people hate so deeply and want to act on it and even pass it on to others hopeing they will agree with them I can not understand.  What happened to live and let live?  I believe that if what someone else is doing doesn’t involve me, doesn’t harm me,  then let that person be them.  Qoutes from the article below.   Oh and when did executive orders become laws?   Did congress get dissolved, or are we now ruled by the whim or the racist bigot hater?  Hugs

According to Liz Mikitarian, a retired kindergarten teacher and the founder of STOP Moms for Liberty, the coordinated efforts to undermine the rights of trans students in Illinois mimic a strategy playing out nationwide.

Parallel Title IX investigations have cropped up in at least 18 educational institutions across 10 states following similar complaints about the policies, including in WisconsinCaliforniaKansasColoradoNorth CarolinaNew Hampshire and Washington. Some of these led to the Trump administration attempting to cut federal funds from public schools in MinnesotaVirginia and Maine.

“You realize it’s so much bigger when you see all the communities around the country that have dealt with this exact same pattern,” Castro told Uncloseted Media and the Chicago Sun-Times.

“When you already exist in a world where there are no safe places and your government is adding to that, it’s dehumanizing. … I worry about the suicide rate [for trans youth] increasing in Illinois,” Lascano says.

Pat Green, who is still grappling with the bullying his son experienced, shares Lascano’s concerns. “From the time he was born, he had this light,” says Green. “When he was at his old school, it was just gone. … I’m really scared about the way things are right now. I remember the fear of wondering if I was going to lose my son. [These groups] are not protecting children. They are causing so much harm.”

Parents and advocates say coordinated complaints over transgender students are driving legal fees, security costs and emotional strain across Illinois school districts.
