What AOC had to say about the House bathroom ban

Please listen to the audio as the written part doesn’t fully capture what she said and why she said it.   This is also in a post Ali made from friend Janet at her blog which I will link below.  Janet is an amazing woman and I enjoy reading her blog.  But AOC mentioned what this is about is targeting people who do not fit the people on the right view of who looks like a man to them or who looks like a woman to them.

Also Johnson said this was not a hardship for McBride as she could use all the public bathrooms or I guess they have private bathrooms in their offices?  Well why couldn’t Mace also do the same or use her own bathroom rather than making the spectacle and forcing all trans people to be targeted with suspicion from people.   She was the only one complaining?   Well if he told her that they couldn’t make a big deal of it, Johnson wouldn’t be able to push his Christian cred and Mace wouldn’t be able to carry on for a week on a crusade against someone not harming her in any way.  Hard to fund raise off a threat that doesn’t exist unless they can make it seem like one.    Hugs.

AOC comes out swinging against a Nancy Mace for targeting Sarah McBride."They're doing this so that Nancy Mace can … fundraise off an email. They're not doing this to protect people. They're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kinds. And everybody should reject it. It's gross."

British naturalist Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species, which explained his theory of evolution. The basis for the theory is natural selection, the process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable (genetically based) physical or behavioral traits. Such changes allow an organism to better adapt to its environment and help it survive and have more offspring.
Evolution is now universally accepted among scientists, and is the organizing principle upon which modern biological and related sciences are based.

Women and men from 21 states met in Cleveland to organize the American Women Suffrage Association, led by Lucy Stone, Henry Blackwell, Thomas Wentworth Higginson, and Julia Ward Howe. The group’s approach to enfranchisement for women was through acquiring the right to vote state-by-state.
Those in Cleveland had broken with Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton of the National Women Suffrage Association over the 15th amendment to the Constitution, which had granted the vote to black male Americans following the end of slavery, but had not enfranchised women, whether white or black. Anthony and Stanton protested the protection of black rights over universal suffrage.

A group of writers, producers and directors that became known as the “Hollywood 10” were cited for contempt of Congress when they refused to cooperate at hearings about alleged Communist influence in the movie industry.

The Hollywood 10
Following their appearance in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) under Representative John Parnell Thomas (R-New Jersey), the House of Representatives voted 346-17 for the citations. All were convicted and sentenced to 6-12 months in prison. The charges were upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. Invoking their 5th Amendment right not to be witnesses against themselves, and their 1st Amendment right to freely associate with whom they choose, the Hollywood 10 refused to answer the question, “Are you a member of the Communist Party or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?”
Others cooperated: the mother of actor and dancer Ginger Rogers testified her daughter had been asked to say in a film, “Share and share alike, that’s democracy,” a line from a script written by the blacklisted Dalton Trumbo. Rogers said this was “definitely Communist propaganda.”

14 American students met with Vietnamese in Hanoi to plan the “Peoples’ Peace Treaty” between the peoples of the United States, South Vietnam and North Vietnam.

It begins, “Be it known that the American people and the Vietnamese people are not enemies. The war is carried out in the names of the people of the United States and South Vietnam, but without our consent. It destroys the land and people of Vietnam. It drains America of its resources, its youth, and its honor.”
The treaty was ultimately endorsed by millions.

The United States and the Soviet Union agreed to scrap short- and medium-range missiles in the first superpower treaty to eliminate an entire class of nuclear weapons. The Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF treaty), signed by Reagan and Gorbachev, was the first to actually reduce the number of nuclear weapons held by the two sides.

When We Can’t Tell The Difference Between Truth And Lies…

This is an incredible video on lies and truth, not because he tells us to call out the lies, but look to the real serious needs below the lies.   I finally after several hours of fighting got the finial very large big program installed on my main computer.   Hugs.

Odessa Texas Legislates Bathroom Use…

I like how he brings it all together and asks what is it for really?  He mentions that if it is to protect the kids then you need to outlaw youth pastors from the bathrooms.  He mentions how churches have abused far more children than trans people.   He asks what kind of community does it foster if everyone is looking at everyone to judge if they are manly enough or feminine enough to fit some people’s gender ideas.  He points out how hurtful the laws are and how they serve no purpose.  The mayor who passed it said he needed to bring the people back to god.  Rev. Trevors asks how this is going to do that.  Hugs

The first recorded strike took place in Egypt when necropolis workers who had not been paid for their work in more than two months sat down and refused to work until they were paid and able to eat.

Black Louisiana sugarcane workers, in cooperation with the racially integrated Knights of Labor, had gone on strike at the beginning of the month over their meager pay issued in script (not cash). The script was redeemable only at the company store where excessive prices were charged. When the first freeze of the season arrived and damaged the crop, the plantation owners were angered. The Louisiana Militia, aided by bands of “prominent citizens,” shot and killed at least 35 unarmed black sugar workers striking to gain a dollar-per-day wage, and lynched two strike leaders in what became known as the Thibodaux Massacre.

President Ronald Reagan signed off on a top secret document, National Security Decision Directive 17 (NSDD-17), which gave the Central Intelligence Agency a budget of $19 million to recruit and support a 500-man force of Nicaraguan insurgents to conduct covert actions against the leftist Sandinista elected government. This marked the beginning of official U.S. support for the so-called contras in their war against the Nicaraguans.

SHRINKAGE: Trump’s victory shrivels into a tiny embarrassment

Stand with Sarah McBride: Join the Bathroom Ban Protest

21Nov

I assume you read this blog because you care about trans rights. At the very least, you are not hostile to women like me. As such, I have a favor to ask of you.

You may or may not be aware. The very first openly transgender person was elected to the House of Representatives in this past election cycle. Sarah McBride was elected to Congress to represent the state of Delaware in an at-large House district. The people of Delaware believe she is a good choice to represent their interests in Congress.

Unfortunately, the Republicans in the House have seen fit to disrespect her in a truly nasty way. They have decided to bring a transgender bathroom ban to the halls of Congress. This disgusting turn of events began with Nancy Mace of South Carolina. She introduced a resolution this week. It would ban transgender women from using women’s bathrooms and other facilities at the Capitol. She has said that the bill “absolutely” targets Rep.-elect Sarah McBride. House Speaker Mike Johnson has voiced support for this move.

Sadly, among the Democratic caucus, only Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has had the courage to speak out forcefully. A few others have joined her in opposing this move. It simply has not received the widespread condemnation that is so resoundingly deserved.

Now to that favor I mentioned. Today, there is a petition circulating. It allows cisgender women to state that they are opposed to such actions “in their names.” As I write this, almost 2700 cis women have signed the petition. It needs many more signatures. I ask you to sign this petition.

Share it with like minded women who also are unafraid of transgender women in “women’s spaces.” I’m providing a link to the petition below, with the exact title given to it.

Not In Our Name: Cisgender Women Against Trans Bathroom Bans – Action Network

The journey continues. The Republicans are sending strong signals about how they intend my life to be in the future. I will not be silenced.

(I stole this because the reblog button is not present there, I’m sure it will be back, but meanwhile, it’s bedtime, so I stole it. Please sign and continue to disseminate this, all right? And thank you!)

Gaetz Drops AG Bid & Nancy Mace Wages Transphobic Attack on Sarah McBride | The Daily Show

Desi Lydic unpacks the latest Capitol Hill news: Matt Gaetz withdraws as Trump’s pick for Attorney General, and Nancy Mace targets Congresswoman Sarah McBride with an anti-trans bathroom ban.

What the host did not point out is that Nancy Mace is a total publicity hound.  She seeks the spotlight at all times.  She demands her staff book her on some media at least once a week.  She demands they video her like you see in the clips above so she can post them on X or other social media.  She is like Marge Greene in that being famous and a celebrity is more important to them than governing.  Being an influencer is more important than forming a more perfect union for everyone.   Making a spectacle and being in the center of what everyone is talking about is what gives them the greatest joy.   As you can see once defending trans people’s rights gave her clicks and views so she was all in for it.  Then her cult switched to fear and hate regardless of the real truth and the denial of science in favor of religion.  In a book written over thousands of years, edited and changed countless times, translated from language to language often by people with no idea how to speak the language they are translating, and then selectively edited by political leaders as to what should be in it and what should be removed … that book says god created them male and female.  So that was written by people who did not understand germs or to wash their hands to prevent sickness, who believed different colored sticks would cause different colored livestock, and had no concept of modern science makes a claim that modern humans in 2024 place more authority in than all the education and medical science of all history.   How is that rational?  Yet these people are elected to the highest offices to run a country that once was respected as striving for enlightenment and civil rights for all, is now being drive to regress to a theocracy where our highest information will be limited to what people in the Bronze Age understood.  We have seen this happen in other countries and we were aghast at it.  Look at Afghanistan?  Look at the Arab countries that turned their backs on science and instead used their holy writings as the way things must always be.  That thinking allows no growth and a supreme denial of reality.  Hugs

Transgender Americans share concerns about Trump’s threats to rollback rights

President-elect Trump made rolling back transgender rights a key issue in his campaign. He promised to limit access to gender-affirming care and to prevent trans athletes from participating in school sports. His election has communities of trans people and allies fearful of widespread discrimination and a loss of health care access. Amna Nawaz discussed more with Orion Rummler of The 19th.
